World Challenge Middle East

World Challenge is the world’s leading schools adventure travel company.
We have been working with Middle East schools for over seven years, and have a permanent team based in our office in Dubai who service schools from right across the GCC and wider Middle East region. Our Expedition Programmes and World Challenge Weeks are designed to suit International Schools following any of the common curriculum platforms.
World Challenge programmes also offer students the opportunity to fulfil the CAS and Extended Essay elements of the IB Diploma Programme and support the adventurous journey and residential project of the International Award.
We offer a wide range of exciting destinations and durations to best suit your needs, from 1 to 2 week shorter trips, to 2 to 4 week long haul destinations. Our 2 to 4 week expeditions provide a rewarding environment for students to learn about themselves, others and their environment and include a build-up programme.

World Challenge Short Haul Expeditions (1-2 weeks)
World Challenge Adventure itineraries are designed to incorporate multi activities and locations giving a real taste of your chosen destination. They will often incorporate elements of trekking and project and all will include sightseeing opportunities with rest and relaxation activities. These itineraries are a great introduction to developing world travel and allow students from all backgrounds and ages to come together and experience a mini expedition! This type of itinerary is often a great way to introduce younger students to overseas adventure and can cater for students aged 12 – 16 years.
The emphasis here is on developing teamwork, leadership and communication skills through physical challenge. These programmes are perfect for activities such as International Award expeditions, team challenges and year group trips. Trek itineraries can also include some sightseeing and rest and relaxation activities such as White Water rafting.
The main objective here is community service and cultural interaction. Teams will work with our local project partners to help contribute to the improvement of facilities and lives of local communities. Often based in schools, students will learn a huge amount about the local culture and customs while having their eyes opened to how others live their lives. Project weeks are hugely rewarding and many schools form lasting relationships with projects and return year after year. These itineraries are perfect for IB students, Week Without walls and subject based projects.
World Challenge Long Haul Expeditions (2-4 weeks)
A World Challenge Expedition is often seen as the ultimate challenge for students. It is a 12-month programme which includes research, planning and a training weekend culminating in a 2-4 week expedition. Students will be expected to take ownership of their expedition and have responsibility for the day-to-day tasks such as management of the expedition, budget, food and accommodation. Guided by a highly qualified and experienced Expedition Leader, students will take part in both a physically challenging trek and community project.
A World Challenge expedition is a life-changing experience and students will develop skills which they will take with them on to university and future careers. Expeditions can also earn students UCAS points through the ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Award and can also qualify for their Gold International Award expedition and residential service project.

Why Choose World Challenge?

Much more than just a school trip, a World Challenge expedition is a life-changing experience, inspiring students to take on the world. Find out what students, parents and teachers have to say about our unique programme:
"Absolutely the best trip to date! The kids had a fantastic time. The fact that the kids also had ownership over the organisation of the trip was a revelation. They learnt so much about themselves – I was gobsmacked to see them run things! I love World Challenge!" Teacher, Doha College – Nepal
"I had the most amazing time in Malaysia... I feel that the experiences we got and the lessons we learnt on expedition were priceless and cannot thank you enough for making it all possible!" Challenger, UAE – Malaysia
"I immediately noticed my daughter was more considerate of others, less critical and more aware of the background and needs of others. She now has a different perspective and appreciative outlook... She has learned that if you dig deep you can manage difficult tasks and there is a lot to be gained by effort and by being a team player. She's no longer afraid of the things that worried her before i.e. the dark, creepy crawlies, rafting etc. She's matured through this experience and I think she will perhaps think and work things through before jumping into situations so easily in the future."
Parent, St Christopher's School, Bahrain – Nepal
"It was exactly what the school was looking for. We required a cultural experience that was vastly different from our previous residential trips with the focus on team building, individual growth, outdoor and adventure activities. The project phase in a local school was exceptional. I was very impressed with the organisation and support of World Challenge.”"
Teacher, Kings School, UAE – Nepal
