Lizzy today received her MBE for Services to Sport from Her Majesty The Queen at Windsor Castle.
Her mum, dad and boyfriend James were there to share the day with the Skeleton star.
She said: “From the moment I got up this morning it has been the most amazing day. It was such an honour to learn I was being awarded an MBE – and now I’m here it still seems very surreal. Windsor Castle is stunning, I kept thinking of all the historic moments that have happened here.
"It was so special to receive the award from The Queen, she was very kind and so knowledgeable about skeleton racing and the Winter Olympics, which was lovely to chat about – it helped calm my nerves!
“I want to thank everyone so much for supporting me – my friends, family, coaches, support team and all those people who cheered me on from the UK early this year – it is great for winter sport to be recognised in this way.
"I fly to the US tomorrow for the first race of the season so this is just the perfect way to say goodbye to the UK – being here with my family and having a special day – before I get down to business tomorrow and start winning more medals!”
