World Challenge’s inaugural Leader Forum was heralded a success after more than 70 Expedition Leaders descended on Condover Hall, Shropshire last week.
The wealth of experience on show during the two-day event was impressive and included Doug Lochhead, who led a team from Trinity Catholic High School to Bolivia in 2002 which included current World and former Olympic and Commonwealth 400m Champion Christine Ohuruogu!
He said: “Christine was a very likeable young woman and was always smiling. She was a good leader and always pulled her weight in the team.”
Leaders were treated to workshops including ‘Lifecycle of an Incident’, ‘Emotional Intelligence’, ‘Influencing Project Success’ and a ‘Global Programme Overview’ as well as a business update from MD Matt Eastlake.
Matt added: “We hope our Leaders found the Forum beneficial and are now clear as to what we are focusing on as a business. I hope it also acted as a networking opportunity for them, not just between Leaders, but staff as well.”
The Leaders were also treated to a talk by nature, travel and adventure photographer John Beatty. John, who lives in the Peak District, has adventured across 38 countries for the past 29 years and continuously strives to portray the beauty and power of the natural world through his imagery.
He said: “Throughout my life in travel, the simplest and most ordinary everyday events in nature have absorbed and fascinated me. I have been lucky to be able to share these wonders with fellow travellers, friends, adventurers and enthusiasts.”
