Acclimatisation
Kalahari Desert: Based near a bushman settlement, teams will live with Bushmen guides learning about their lifestyle and traditional Kalahari survival techniques while doing day treks through the rough open bushland.
Okavango Delta: As a central water source this area is famed for its wildlife. Travelling into the Delta by mokoro (dug out canoe) teams can explore this rich and diverse region under the guidance of trained game scouts.
Main trekking phase
Batoka Gorge: This dramatic 90m gorge runs along the Zambezi River beyond the famous Victoria Falls and marks the beginning of the great Zambezi Valley. Treks (from 3-6 days) can include a few days in the Gorge along the shores of the Zambezi and some days exploring the open bush and villages above.
Lobatse Village trek: South of Gaborone, in the low lying hills just north of Lobatse, teams trek from rural village to rural village, experiencing the local culture and communities while also exploring this beautiful and varied area.
Project work for the Zambia and Botswana expedition
This is a fantastic destination for rewarding projects providing an opportunity to learn about the local way of life, living and working in communities. These projects provide Challengers with the chance to interact with local children and make a genuine contribution in remote areas.
Rest and relaxation
There is plenty to do from game drives and safari in Chobe National Park to visiting the impressive Victoria Falls. These activities can be incorporated into the expedition or form part of the wind down time at the end.
