Different options for trekking in Honduras

As you acclimatise to the heat and humidity you can participate in short treks to waterfalls and National Parks to prepare for the main trekking phase of the trip.

When you’re ready for the main challenge there are a number of options for trekking in Honduras including trekking through the Celaque National Park where a challenging five day trek leads to the country’s highest peak, Cerro de las Minas, at 2849m.  Walking through the beautiful cloud forest - rainforests bathed in heavy consistent cloud cover obscuring the light above - keep your eyes peeled for signs of wildlife such as toucans and jaguars.

If you prefer a gentler approach to trekking in Honduras, then the Lenca region offers challenging hill walks with the benefit of stunning scenery.

For those looking for a more exciting trekking in Honduras experience, then the wild and dense jungles of La Moskitia provide an opportunity to explore the remote and intriguing land of the Pech and Miskito Indians.  Even the journey there provides a challenge as teams have to undertake a two day journey by bus, jeep and dug-out canoe.

Whichever trekking option you take you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views, fun challenges and a sense of achievement.
