Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are landlocked countries that form the heart of The Silk Road; an ancient trade route that links Asia with Europe. The region offers world class mountain adventures, nomadic traditions, fine architecture and a unique natural environment off the beaten track.

The fascinating town of Nurata lies at the foot of the Nurata Mountains and on the edge of the Kizilkum desert. It was founded by Alexander the Great and the water supply system he created there is still in partial use today. The ruins of an ancient fortress dominate the town which is also an important centre for pilgrimage.

The regions captivating mountain scenery provides the perfect backdrop for altitude activities. The Chimgan and Tian Shan ranges attract walkers and cyclists during the summer months, and skiers and snowboarders during the winter. The Fann Mountain range boasts over one hundred snow capped peaks with sparkling turquoise lakes and rolling green pastures which suit beginners and experienced hikers alike.

Surrounded by the rugged Tian Shan peaks, Lake Issy-Kul is a stunning blue green lake with sandy shores. It’s a great place to kick back, relax and sunbathe after your altitude adventure.
