Training for the Challenger Run

Week 1...

Read some expedition fitness advice from Stu Morris our Senior Instructor...

"Expedition life can be physically and mentally demanding; being away from home, experiencing different climates, eating different food and travelling long distances can all take their toll, but by getting fit before you depart, you can better prepare yourself to deal with these factors. A common concern of those going on expedition is getting ill. The fitter and healthier we can be, the less likely we are to get ill and the quicker our body is likely to recover if we do pick up an illness.

Fitness is something we should all work on before expedition. Taking part in one of our Challenger Runs is great; not only does it give us a fitness target to focus on and work towards, but we can also work together with our other team members and raise some money!

Your expedition is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you should embrace and enjoy the whole experience and remember it for the right reasons and not because your fitness held you back.

When your place has been confirmed you will be able to download a training programme on the 'my World Challenge' portal. However as everyone has signed up at different times and is taking part in different events, the most important thing is for you to have done some training rather than no training at all. Choose the 5, 10 or 15km, or walk it, this is completely up to you.

Can I still sign up?
