World Challenge launches independent expeditions brand
27/10/09
UK market leader, World Challenge, has been providing educational expeditions for over 20 years. Originally for school groups only, the same inspiring, life-changing overseas expeditions are now available for those wishing to travel independently.
The expeditions, which are split into two age groups - 15 to 18 year olds and 18 to 26 year olds, will maintain all of the unique experiences that a World Challenge expedition can offer.
World Challenge offers its independent customers:-
- Unrivalled back-up, safety response and communications systems from a market leading 24-hr Operations Centre in the UK
- A wide range of destinations worldwide
- Comprehensive fundraising support
- The opportunity to earn up to 70 UCAS points
- If undertaking a DofE award, the opportunity for Customers to complete both their expedition and residential phases
- A safety training course called TravelSafe delivered from an award winning training facility
Julian Penney, Director of World Challenge independent expeditions, comments, “We’ve been running expeditions for schools for years and realised that the appeal doesn’t end there. Our aim is to offer the same opportunity to students where their school are not able to get a full team together and for those who’ve left school and would like to go on an expedition.
Our new website www.world-challenge-expeditions.co.uk has details of all the expeditions on offer and is packed full of advice on preparing for the experience.”
The bespoke one to six-week itineraries in the developing world and closer to home teach life skills, stretch comfort zones, expand minds whilst fostering team and leadership skills. Customers also learn communication, inter-personal, negotiation, financial and delegation skills amongst others. In the ever competitive world we find ourselves in, the skills Customers learn will not only aid their personal growth but also help secure university places and impress employers alike.
In fact, the UK’s key employers voted World Challenge by name as one of the most important activities undertaken at school, above activities such as Young Enterprise and sporting events.*
