World Challenge plan and deliver exciting, educational expeditions to over 50 destinations within the developing world, from South America to Mongolia! We offer the opportunity for over 400 school groups to enter into a programme of learning and development; fundraising; and team building, culminating in a 1-6 week Expedition.
Instrumental to the success of our business is our in-house Flights department, who source and book around 7,000 flights per year, all of which are group flight bookings. This busy team manage a portfolio of destinations each and manage the flight booking process from initial cost negotiations with airlines through to ticketing. Due to the seasonal nature of our business, the majority of our Expedition groups depart in a two month window!
The role…
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to take responsibility for a portfolio of short haul and mid haul flight destination bookings. This varied position will involve:
- Sourcing the best possible group fares for your portfolio of destinations whilst also responding to any adhoc flight requests.
- Entering names into group bookings in time with deadlines
- Passenger name record and Q management
- Ticketing long and short haul group bookings
- As a member of the Flights department, you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to build professional working relationships both internally and with airlines.
- You will be comfortable negotiating and have the ability to work to budgetary targets, always ensuring that we receive the best possible group fare.
- You will naturally have a meticulous eye for detail and will be a stickler for producing consistently accurate work, even when under time constraints.
- Due to the tight operational deadlines and volume of group bookings managed by the team, you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a varied workload and work towards tight operational deadlines.
- A quick learner, you will have an interest in the travel industry and an understanding of the flight booking process.
- Experience of group flight bookings would be an advantage but not essential
- You will have experience using Amadeus Central Reservations System or a similar system such as Galileo.
- You will be a creative problem solver, able to ‘think outside the box’ when it comes to routing options and will be eager to learn.
- Instrumental to the success of the department is the ability to maintain accurate records using Excel.
