Acclimatisation
Starting off in Malawi teams can head to Dzalanyama or Viphya – beautiful Forest Reserves with abundant wildlife - or to the Zomba Plateau to explore the scenic hills and pine forests. In Zambia acclimatisation treks can explore rural villages, rocky hills or river valleys.
Main trek
Malawi offers two major challenges: an ascent of Mt. Mulanje (3001m) over 4 to 7 days and a traverse of the wild, remote and beautiful Nyika Plateau from the highlands to the shores of Lake Malawi. In Zambia, the Batoka Gorge offers a fantastic challenge with sleeping out under the stars en route and dramatic gorge scenery.
Project
You’re bound to get a warm welcome on your project in Zambia or Malawi. In the past few years teams have contributed to valuable projects at feeding centres - building grain stores and goat enclosures and refurbishing dining areas with colourful and educational healthy eating murals. Playgrounds have been installed in Malawi, and in Zambia an innovative project using the traditional technique of chilli seed fences to keep elephants off school grounds has been set up!
Rest and relaxation
Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park offers world class safari opportunities in a traditional savannah setting, whilst Malawi’s Liwonde National Park holds great elephant and hippo spotting opportunities in its lush riverine waterways. Finishing in Zambia, teams can head to the awesome Victoria Falls, whereas in Malawi the golden sandy shores of Lake Malawi offer a chance to chill out, catch fish and relax on the beach.
