Mac MacKay - World Challenge Technical Advisor – mountain activities

William Duncan MacKay (Mac), Director of MacKay Adventure Consultants MAC, is Technical Advisor for World Challenge.
MAC is a consultancy business specialising in advising in hazardous activities, adventurous pursuits, and sporting activities worldwide. Mac works closely with specialists in many fields of safety management consultancy and accident investigation. |
His other specialist area is in the military aspects of adventurous, physical, and leadership training for operations and personal protection, which incorporates hazardous workplaces in corporate operations.
Mac founded MAC soon after retiring early from a commission as a Master at Arms in the Army Physical Training Corps to devote more time to developing a distinct niche in the market of adventure pursuits and corporate workplace risk management. He is also able to concentrate on his other interest of mountain and ski guiding. An additional business, mmmsports compliments the consultancy and ensures competency of Mac as an expert in the field of mountaineering, skiing and outdoors environmental hazards.
Mac is past President of the British Mountain Guides and has a proven background in adventure and outdoor environmental hazards risk management consultancy. He formed and established the first Ministry of Defence Subject Matter Expert appointment with the now well known Land Accident Investigation Team (LAIT), providing expert advice during investigations into adventurous training, physical training, sports, environmental hazards and near miss incidents. In addition, he provided advice to the Treasury Solicitor and acts as Expert Witness on Board of Inquiries. A vital requirement while in the position was to provide expert advice to commanders and leaders of military adventurous training expeditions worldwide, in particular expeditions categorised as High Risk and/or Remote in all adventure environments. He also advised the Army’s policy branch on Health and Safety issues and technical matters appertaining to adventurous and physical training for operations in general.

Deb has spent the last 18 years paddling, with career highlights that include captaining the British Ladies White Water Rafting team and competing in six World Championships. But she’s equally dynamic out of her kayak as she is in! She is Chairperson of the English White Water Rafting Committee, UK Representative on the International Rafting Federation Committee and holds a list of relevant qualifications as long as your arm. |
Having also led a number of World Challenge expeditions, she’s the perfect addition to our highly qualified and experienced team.
