Arrival in Libya
The team will fly into Tripoli where they will meet their guide for the duration of the expedition. Travel in Libya is only allowed when accompanied by a registered Libyan guide, which is a highlight of the trip as it will give the team not only first hand experience of the hospitality of the Libyan people but also a much better understanding of the culture and the history of Libya. After spending the night in Tripoli the team will commence their exploration of this astonishing country.
Main trekking phase on the Libya expedition
Discover the secrets of the Jebel Acacus massif, as the trek takes you through the dark basalt mountains in the south western corner of the country, with interesting rock formations and glorious rock art, some of which is thought to be over 12,000 years old. It is easy to understand why this area is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Sahara Desert
Experience the beauty of the Sahara desert complete with stunning sand dunes and magnificent sunrises.
Rest and relaxation
Time permitting teams will be able to round off their expedition with a visit to the ruins of Leptis Magna, one of the largest and best preserved Roman cities in existence which dates back to 7th century BC. Alternatively teams can explore the evocative medina of Tripoli where the Libya of old survives before returning home.
