Peru - South
Introduction to the Peru South expedition
|

|
Sitting on the Pacific coast of South America, Peru has three main environments: the vast Amazonian lowlands, the Andes Mountains and a narrow strip of coastal plain which runs down the west of the country.
Peruvians tend to be very warm-hearted and take pride in welcoming visitors into their communities so teams are encouraged to make the most of the opportunities for cultural exchange. Learning some Spanish will really help with this and more ambitious teams may even want to learn Quechua. |

Our Challengers loved…
Trekking in the Sacred Valley, home to many Inca ruins and those of other ancient civilisations. A trip to Machu Picchu is always a highlight and a once in a lifetime experience. Further south, in Arequipa, teams have enjoyed the thrill of trekking in the deepest canyon in the world or on the slopes of a huge volcano. During their project phase, many challengers have had the opportunity to experience Peruvian life first hand and have bonded with the locals and children in remote villages. |
