Zambia and Botswana
Introduction to the Zambia and Botswana expedition
|
| These two countries make up the central hinterland of Southern Africa, encompassing a great variety of landscapes, culture and wildlife. Relatively untouched by western influence, this area boasts some of the most breathtaking attractions in Africa.
The Kalahari Desert covers much of Botswana, home to the nomadic Bushmen famed for their powers of survival in a harsh and arid environment. To the north the Okavango River flows into the desert to form an inland delta, characterised by a myriad of channels and islands. Frequently referred to as the jewel in the Kalahari’s crown, this vibrant and lush ecosystem makes a startling contrast to the surrounding plains. All the major African game species gather here, drawn from the desert in search of a watering hole.
