Introduction to the Uganda Ruwenzori expedition

Uganda flag

The Ruwenzori Mountains, which were created by uplift, and rise to 5109m (Mt Stanley), lie along Uganda’s western border beside the eastern side of the Rift. Mt Elgon, Uganda’s other major peak lies on the eastern side of the country. Uganda has many National Parks that are home to a wide and increasing variety of wildlife. It also boasts one of the few populations of mountain gorilla in the world. The Ugandans themselves are extraordinarily friendly and welcoming people. Uganda is not a large country by African standards and much of its charm lies in its intimacy and compactness. It is a beautiful country and has a great deal to offer any visitor. Trek Uganda - World Challenge

Spending a week at a rural village school helping local labourers in building a new classroom. This week allowed the team to get truly immersed in local culture and gave them the chance to bond as a group before setting off on trek.

The trek was a challenging wet and muddy 7 days but the whole group agreed they felt a massive sense of achievement on completing the trek together.
