DofE FAQs

How big should the DofE team be?
Teams must be between 4 and 7 Challengers. More information on team numbers.

What if not all team members want to take part?
The team can be made up of some doing the DofE programme and others who aren’t. There just needs to be a minimum of 4 Challengers doing the DofE programme.

What if a different destination has been chosen to the ones on offer?
You should switch to one of the destinations that have been approved in order for the expedition to be accredited by the DofE. The approved destinations are Argentina, Brazil South, Brazil Amazonas, Malawi, Namibia and Norway.

What if Challengers opt to withdraw as a result?
Any Challengers that choose to do this can be offered the chance to go on a World Challenge independently of the school.  Please call +44 (0)1494 427590 or email
tellmemore@world-challenge.co.uk for more details.

What specific criteria need to be fulfilled on expedition?

  • Team number
  • Training – there are two elements that need to be completed: the OTE at Buxton and the UK Wild Country Practice Expedition organised by the school or young person
  • In-country – the trekking routes are planned out to adhere to the DofE regulations, as is the accommodation. An objective needs to be set and remote supervision undertaken
