Arrival in Gozo
Teams will fly in to Malta International airport. There they will be met and transported to Cirkewwa Harbour, where they will take a short ferry journey across to the Island of Gozo. Teams will stay in the authentic village of Qala, near to Mgarr Harbour.
PADI Open Water Diver Course
Qualified divers within the team will undertake 8 Open Water guided dives throughout the duration of this expedition. Those unqualified can embark on an Open Water Diver course at an additional cost. This course is at the entry level within the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). Between classroom sessions and confined water training in Gozo’s calm waters, they will be taught how to safely make use of all the scuba gear to prepare them for Open Water sessions.
After the confined water training, they will complete four Open Water dives at some of Gozo’s breathtaking dive sites. They will be required to perform all the skills they have already learnt, under the supervision of a PADI qualified instructor. After 4-5 days (depending on the size and ability of the group), Challengers be awarded with a lifetime qualification that can be used just about anywhere in the world.
Trekking around Gozo
Exploring the 35 miles of spectacular rocky coastline, teams will negotiate a labyrinth of boulder fields; discovering precipitous cliffs, deep-cut fjords, rocky headlands and little urbanisation. They will trek to beautiful Dwejra Bay, Fungus Rock and the infamous Azure Window (a huge hole cut into limestone precipice created by waves over thousands of years), where they can savour one of the most magnificent sunsets in Europe.
Rest and relaxation on the Dive Gozo expedition
Time permitting, there are various ancient sites available to see in Gozo. Ggantija, one of the oldest freestanding temples in the world, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates further back than 3000BC. A walk around the citadel's bastions in the market capital of Victoria is a must along with exploring various unspoilt beaches.
