Our company…
As part of the Specialist and Activity sector within the TUI Group, World Challenge provides educational expeditions for school groups. Every year, over 5,000 pupils become ‘Challengers’ and enter into a programme of learning and development; fundraising; and team building, culminating in a 1-6 week Expedition to one of our exciting destinations in the developing world.

On average, our ‘Challengers’ raise an impressive 80% of the cost of the Expedition themselves over the course of the 15-22 month programme! On hand to encourage and support the students throughout their fundraising efforts are our dedicated Fundraising Support Team. We are now looking for an enthusiastic addition to the team, to help enable students to raise funds for their expedition; and gain money management and life skills.

What you’ll be doing…
As a member of our Support team, this telephone based role will involve providing support and encouragement to young people; motivating them to engage with the fundraising process as early as possible and enabling them to meet their targets.

You will manage your own portfolio and work towards retention targets and deadlines. The role will involve credit control duties in which you will be calling to request payments at peaks in the expedition programme cycle, but full training will be given to enable you to tactfully chase for payments whilst providing support at all times.

You will create a positive, can do attitude in young people you speak with, encouraging innovative ideas and creative fundraising solutions.

You will help to identify individuals or groups who are particularly struggling with their fundraising efforts and offer them targeted support. You may also occasionally have the opportunity to attend fundraising focus meetings in schools.

Liaising with the Head of Events, you will promote and attend fundraising events organised by World Challenge; assist in the preparation and promotion of fundraising competitions and updating fundraising social media.

As a member of the support team, you will be required to build an encyclopaedic knowledge of our programme, as you will be answering queries on anything from medical and vaccination advice to Health & Safety and destination information.

Your profile…
We are seeking a motivated and confident communicator, with a proactive and innovative approach. You’ll enjoy working with and through people and be able to actively influence and motivate a variety of people in changing situations. Your strong influencing skills will enable you to generate enthusiasm and commitment from the young people you are talking to and build positive relationships.

Comfortable working to targets and able to manage deadlines, you will enjoy challenging situations and be a positive self-starter. You will adopt an approachable and helpful manner, whilst being assertive and tactful when credit control duties are required. Ideally, you will be comfortable adopting a direct manner in your communication style and be able to manage a large portfolio of contacts whilst still maintaining a personal service. Able to multitask and deal with a fast pace of work whilst maintaining standards, you will be logical, thorough and self disciplined.

Experience liaising with customers over the telephone would be an advantage, especially dealing with sensitive situations. Credit control experience would be a benefit but not essential as full training will be provided.

Although not essential, experience as a ‘Challenger’ having been through the fundraising process yourself would also be a bonus!
