Included with World Challenge expeditions
What is included in the cost of a World Challenge expedition?
- Flights and in-country costs – Transport, food, accommodation, guides’ fees, park fees, airport taxes, local equipment purchase or hire and other in-country costs specific to the expedition. We also guarantee that no airline surcharges will be passed on to our customers.
- Team Expedition equipment – Satellite communication equipment, tents, ropes, harnesses, extensive medical supplies appropriate for your destination (antibiotics, dressings, splints, re-hydration salts etc), freeze dried rations, stoves and hammocks.
- Insurance (medical) – 24-hour back-up from the Operations Centre in High Wycombe, all medical treatment until return to country of origin, search and rescue and casualty evacuation for all team members.
- Medical assistance – We are associated with international medical assistance agency First Assist which supports the Operations Centre and are available 24-hours a day.
- Training – Team training expedition, money management training, pre-expedition build-up training (compulsory prior to departure) and customised regular meetings with World Challenge. All travelling adults attend our Expedition Preparation Conference.
- Preparation – Expedition handbooks, online resources, destination research, meetings, parents’ presentation, advice from dedicated Fundraising Support Team, Customer Support Team, regular support from your World Challenge representative, individual medical clearance and medical consultancy and entry to a Challenger Run.
- Leaders and Expedition Assistants – Each team travels with an Expedition Leader with necessary qualifications and experience who is specifically trained and assessed for the role by World Challenge. All payments to Expedition Leaders for time and costs incurred.
- Expedition Leaders’ expenses and fees – Payments to Leaders for time and costs incurred.
What is not included in the cost of a World Challenge expedition?
- Personal equipment – walking boots, rucksac Through World Challenge, Challengers receive 20% discount at Cotswold Outdoor shops.
- Vaccinations – World Challenge work with NOMAD to offer Challengers and School Leaders advice and a 10% discount on inoculations.
- Visas (if required).
- Transport in the UK – to and from the training expedition and the airport.
- Rest and relaxation activities - such as snorkelling or white water rafting.
- Insurance for personal equipment.
- Pre-departure accommodation - close to airport (if required).
