The UAE’s Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi (pictured left, with Al Shaheen CEO Mark Doyle pictured right), was on hand recently to officially open our residential camp in the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah.

In conjunction with Al Shaheen Adventure, the camps (ranging from two to five days) are aimed at students from schools throughout the Middle East from 8 to 14 years old whilst also supporting practice and qualifying expeditions for the International Award Bronze and Silver journeys for the over-14s. Come April this year, World Challenge Middle East will have sent over 900 Challengers through the camp.

Julien Goetz, General Manager for the Middle East, said: “The whole idea of our residential camps is to target schools with younger students who wouldn’t normally go on a World Challenge expedition. We take them through a whole journey - starting at our local camp and progressing all the way until they are old enough to go on expedition.”
