World Challenge has appointed Pete Fletcher as its new Managing Director with immediate effect.
The move comes after a change to the Senior Leadership Team back in November.
Originally from the UK, in 2002 Pete left his job in the London financial markets to move to Australia in search of good waves and warm water. After a stint as a Diamond Wholesaler in Melbourne, he joined World Challenge in 2005, while the business was in its infancy in Australia.
Pete became a World Challenge Director at the end of 2010, General Manager (Australasia) in 2011 and then Global Sales Director in late 2014.
In August 2015, Pete became the first Australian to row unassisted from west to east across the North Atlantic. He completed the crossing with good friend Tom Hudson, surviving storms and severe hunger to finally make it in 98 days.
Hans Lagerweij, Portfolio Managing Director of the Adventure Division sitting within TUI’s Specialist Group, is pleased to have been able to promote someone internally.
He said: “World Challenge is operating in a very competitive environment and has some interesting challenges in the sales area, in order to reap the benefits of the investments made in product and operations.
“The Managing Director’s primary responsibility is to lead our global sales strategies, build relationships with our leading customers and drive the sales teams in each market – in fact working as a Global Sales Director and MD at the same time.”
Pete will be working out of the UK office and will be supported by James Venn, Stuart Morris, and Hans Lagerweij who still form the Executive Leadership team of World Challenge.
