World Challenge has removed Honduras and Guatemala from its Latin America portfolio with immediate effect due to safety concerns.
Over the last 27 years World Challenge has worked hard to develop an excellent reputation for its approach to safety and how it operates in over 40 destinations around the world.
The company utilises a number of government, security and medical agencies as well as its own knowledgeable in-country agent network, and as part of a recent review, identified increasing safety concerns in both destinations.
World Challenge’s highest priority is the safety of its participants and therefore a decision has been taken to discontinue operations in these countries which means school teams who had planned expeditions to Honduras and the Maya Route (Guatemala) have now been diverted.
On the decision, Global Operations Director Stuart Morris said: “World Challenge has first-class experience of diverting teams even at short notice and we are confident that we can offer quality alternative itineraries to the affected teams that still achieve the objectives and outcomes of both the students and schools.
“We are disappointed to be moving away from both destinations but it is absolutely the right decision. Safety is our number one priority.”
