World Challenge became part of TUI Group’s newly formed Adventure Division earlier this year following which I undertook an extensive review of the global growth plan for the company.
Having taken time to review his role, Group Managing Director Matthew Eastlake has decided to leave World Challenge. With immediate effect the Executive Leadership Team, which consists of James Venn, Stuart Morris, Peter Fletcher and myself, will work together to continue to drive the business forward whilst a successor for Matthew is identified.
Matthew joined World Challenge in October 2011 during a period of significant change as the company moved from private to corporate ownership. Under his leadership since then, he has guided the company through some difficult and challenging times.
World Challenge has also undergone a transformation in terms of programme delivery and the entire safety and back-up organisation. These actions have placed World Challenge as the undisputed global leader in the schools expeditions market, with significant improved customer satisfaction.
The new Executive Leadership Team has a strong mix of business skills and experience in adventure travel.
World Challenge now enters the next exciting chapter in its history and I will be working diligently with the senior team to ensure the company is best placed to succeed in a fast-changing environment.
I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Matthew for his contribution, commitment and strong leadership and wish him well for the future.
